Cynthia Karuri–Kropac has left Safaricom as its Chief Enterprise Business Officer after joining the telco on 1st September 2022 from US telco AT&T, where she was the Senior Director, Enterprise Mobile and IoT Technologies, since 2019. Her career at AT&T. spanned 19 years, having held various management and leadership roles.
Cynthia Karuri–Kropac took over from Kris Senanu who left the company in June 2022. Kris had joined Safaricom in June 2021 from Telkom Kenya where he was the Managing Director at Telkom’s Digital Service Delivery Unit.
Joseph Wanjohi had been the acting interim Chief Enterprise Business Officer from 1st June 2022 after Senanu and Wanjohi held the Enterprise Business team for 3 months.
Kropac who holds a Bachelor of Finance from the University of Toledo, Ohio, and an MBA in Finance and International Business from Kent State University, Ohio was part of the new team brought in by CEO Peter Ndegwa who replaced Bob Collymore in April 2020 to drive the techco era from Safaricom’s telco days.
After two years at the firm, Kropac is being replaced by Frankline Okata as an Acting Chief Enterprise Business Officer. Okata joined Safaricom in 2006 as a Customer Care Representative and has held several roles in the department. In 2011, he moved into the Enterprise Business Unit and has held various roles there. In January 2022, he was appointed as the Executive Head, Merchant Payments, at Safaricom Ethiopia and in January 2024 came back to Nairobi to lead the Head of Packaged Solutions.
