Absa Bank Kenya has expanded its Absa Next digital banking platform to include investment services, giving customers access to five unit trust funds, including the Absa Equity Fund, which has delivered a 15.95% year-to-date return.
The new offering includes the Absa Balanced Fund, Shilling Money Market Fund, Dollar Money Market Fund, Equity Fund and Fixed Income Fund, with investments starting from KES 1,000.
Customers can open investment accounts digitally, create multiple portfolios, top up investments, link existing Absa Unit Trust investments and monitor performance through the platform. Qualifying redemptions from the Shilling Money Market Fund can also be transferred in real time to an Absa Wallet.
“At the heart of every investment is a dream, whether it’s securing a family’s future, funding education, growing a business, preparing for retirement, or building long-term financial security,” said Moses Muthui, Director of Personal and Private Banking at Absa Bank Kenya.
Launched in September 2026, Absa Next has attracted more than 300,000 users, according to the bank. The platform already offers bill payments, bill splitting, digital savings and instant day-one credit, and is available to both Absa and non-Absa customers.
The Absa Equity Fund recorded a 15.95% return year-to-date, despite declines of 4.13% over one month and 0.80% over three months. The fund was launched in February 2022.
The digital banking platform offers banking, payments, savings, credit and investment services through one mobile experience. Customers can pay bills, split bills, save digitally, access instant day-one credit and invest in five Absa Unit Trust Funds.
Investment features include opening accounts digitally, creating multiple portfolios, topping up investments, linking existing accounts, accessing statements and tracking portfolio performance in real time. Customers can start investing with KES 1,000, while qualifying withdrawals from the Shilling Money Market Fund can be transferred instantly to an Absa Wallet. The platform is open to both Absa and non-Absa customers.
